According to a recent leaked
MSI roadmap, there are some upcoming motherboards in Q2 supporting the new
dual-core offerings from Intel and AMD. There are also some notebooks using AMD
Turion “Taylor” dual-core processors based on Socket M1 (638-pin) and supports
DDR2-667.

On the AMD server front, there is a dual-core
Socket F (1207) Opteron 200 and 800 series codenamed “Santa Rosa” that supports
2 x 1MB L2, registered DDR2, Memory RAS, Security and Virtualization. A
workstation chipset offering from NVIDIA is their MCP55 that supports 2 x PCI-E
x16 slots while the server chipset offering from Serverworks known as MSI K9SD
Master supports up to 16 DDR2 DIMM slots and 2 x PCI-E x8 slots.

On the Intel server front, there are the Xeon 5000 series “Dempsey” CPU, a 65nm
dual-core successor to Irwindale supporting 1066MHz FSB and 2 x 2MB L2 and also
successor to Dempsey, the Woodcrest based on Merom/Conroe core supporting
1333MHz FSB and 8MB of shared L2. The chipset supporting Dempsey is the
Greencreek chipset, part of the Glidewell platform supporting DDR2 533/667
FB-DIMM while the chipset supporting Dempsey and Woodcrest is the E7520
(Blackford) chipset, part of Bensley platform featuring dual independent FSB,
DDR2 533/667 FB-DIMM.
