At WWDC 2013 Apple announced that the MacBook Air lineup was being refreshed with Intel’s new Haswell processors and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Quite a few users are now reporting that they are facing Wi-Fi connectivity issues with their new laptops.
Apparently an anonymous source from one of Apple’s retail stores in London has claimed that the outlet has been receiving above “average complaints” regarding wireless connectivity on the new MacBook Airs. Users claim that their machines repeatedly and unexpectedly disconnect from the Wi-Fi network on their own. An Apple Support Communities thread has also been started in which scores of users are complaining about the exact same issue. This connectivity issue seems to be plaguing both 11 and 13 inch 2013 MacBook Airs.
No solution has been provided as yet for this issue, there has been no comment from Apple confirming that such an issue exists. Users claim that it persists on a variety of different routers, even with Apple’s own AirPort offerings. The new MacBook Airs are able to connect to the network but disconnect themselves shortly after. Some users claim that they have fixed the problem by using different routers, but that doesn’t mean this issue should limit what router a user can connect to. Its likely that a software based fix might be released for the new MacBook Air models, we’ll let you know if that happens.
