Eight new screenshots set the tone for Batman: Arkham City, the first next-gen title in Rocksteady’s epic Arkham series.
Batman: Arkham Knight is shaping up to be one of the best-looking Batman games in recent years. With Rocksteady taking back the developmental helm, gamers are confident that the story arc–as well as the actual in-game dynamics–will reflect the quality in the studio’s previous Batman games.
Since Arkham Knight marks the very first next-gen game in the series, Rocksteady is excited about tapping the power of both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to deliver both impressive graphics and an overall immersive gaming experience.
“We’re excited to be developing the game for next gen platforms,” Sefton Hill, the game’s writer, said. “[Next gen] has allowed us to bring to life the design elements that we envisioned from the beginning such as the Batmobile and how it augments Batman’s abilities, to the fully detailed and realised Gotham City.”
To showcase their current progress with the game, Rocksteady has released a gallery of eight new screenshots that depict everything from characters like Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon and the Caped Crusader to the stylized–and quite deadly–batmobile.
As far as the plot is concerned, Rocksteady has confirmed that this will be the last chapter in the Arkham saga and that they are ready to go out with a bang. The story will chronicle Bruce Wayne in his prime as he battles familiar foes across a newly expanded Gotham City, with the distinct dark visuals and gritty story elements that have been Batman staples from the get-go.
Be sure to check out the screenshots below and keep your eye out for news on the Dark Knight’s last adventure, as this assuredly is one of the year’s most anticipated titles.
Batman: Arkham Knight is slated for a release on Oct. 14, 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. For more information be sure to drop by the game’s official website.
