Up until now, Rockstar hasn’t really shed much light on GTA V’s online multiplayer, leaving fans the freedom to speculate hundreds of entertaining and mayhem-inducing scenarios.
In Grand Theft Auto Online, anything might be possible: brutal deathmatches across the streets of Los Santos wherein players execute one another with crafty precision, or maybe even miscellaneous themed missions, team-based competitions, races, co-operative story mode–and the list goes on and on.
Rockstar aims to sate the rampant curiosity of millions of gamers worldwide later this week by unveiling the first-ever world premiere gameplay footage for Grand Theft Auto Online, highlighting its major features with that signature stylish flair that only Rockstar can deliver.
The previous footage has already showcased the impressive virtual playground that makes up Los Santos, touching upon everything from a dazzling array of vehicles (from helicopters, jets, boats and of course sportscars) to the destructive arsenal of weaponry–and the main characters who are, in themselves, personifications of danger.
It will be interesting to see what elements Rockstar highlights in the new GTA Online footage, and whether or not some of our most-wanted features are included. The gameplay trailer probably won’t show off everything about the online multiplayer–leaving some of it for players to explore on their own–yet it’ll be a satisfying bit of eye-candy nontheless.
Additionally, in last month’s Asked and Answered FAQ, Rockstar revealed that GTA V’s online multiplayer would be part of the mandatory 8GB install disc included with the game:
“For Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.”
GTA Online looks to be a major part of the game and will no-doubt include a variety of expansive gameplay features to keep gamers busy for quite a while (if wreaking explosive havoc on your own isn’t enough, why not bring a friend along?) and compliment the singleplayer adventure quite nicely.
The GTA Online gameplay footage premieres this Thursday, Aug. 15 via the official GTA V website, and be sure to check back in with us for an in-depth analysis of the trailer itself.
