We’ve seen multiple reports this year regarding a refreshed Nexus 7, and earlier today we came across yet another report that winds the rumor mill.
The source of today’s report is DigiTimes – a Taiwanese digital newspaper covering the supply side of the consumer electronics industry. DigiTimes cites “industry sources” who claim that touchscreen controllers supplier Elan Microelectronics – whose clients includes the likes of HP, Sony, and Lenovo – has started working on manufacturing and shipping touchscreen related components for a new Nexus 7. These shipments will help boost Elan’s revenues for the months of May and June which, interestingly, coincides with the oft-rumored July release window for the new Nexus 7.
The second generation Nexus 7 Is expected to be running on a new version of Android, with a notably faster quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, updated cameras, and a full HD display. Pricing will likely remain the same.
