Ubisoft's recently released trailer for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag displays in-game footage from the upcoming release, showcasing many of the game's signature features like capturing the Golden Age of Piracy as well as impressive in-game mechanics.

Ubisoft's newly released trailer shows off in-game footage for the upcoming fourth chapter in the critically acclaimed Assassin's Creed franchise, giving fans a two-minute glimpse of actual in-game footage.

The trailer displays a good chunk of the mechanics featured in Assassin's Creed IV such as ship-to-ship combat, the perils of undersea exploration, and even the exploration of uncharted islands that contain untold treasures.

The footage also delves into Edward Kenway's backstory, shedding light on his infamy-craving personality and reveals him to be more complicated than the other heroes in the series.

Instead of a heroic do-gooder like Ezio, Kenway is more brutal and is feared by both the authorities and outlaws alike, making him a more dynamic character that's capable of both good and bad within the game.

Scenes of Black Flag's swashbuckling combat is also prevalent throughout the footage, and overall Kenway looks very fluid and graceful as his blades deal out death–in a way its almost like a dance. Kenway is also seen dual-wielding pistols in the scenes–another welcome addition to the game's combat system.

The new trailer also briefly touches upon the inclusion of legendary pirates and historical figures within the game, and displays breathtaking vistas and incredible underwater environments that add to the game's stylish flair.

Black Flag takes place in the Caribbean during the 1700's, chronicling the journey of a notorious privateer named Edward Kenway as he adventures across the high seas during the Golden Age of Pirates. Black Flag makes use of the franchise's signature historical accuracy with a variety of impressive in-game visuals and environments that authentically mirror the timeframe with exotic ports from Havana to Kingston.
