New information has been leaked that possibly confirms that Valve is developing a third release in the Left 4 Dead series along with the company’s new Source engine that will power their upcoming titles.

The leaks come by way of a screenshot taken during a tour of Valve’s offices in Bellevue, wherein members of the Dota 2 subReddit were invited for a look-around at the place where Valve’s Steam-y magic is born. As the tour commenced, a sharp-eyed Dota 2 player took a quick snapshot of a computer screen that displayed some interesting info: an internal changelog.

The image, which is included below, showed an internal changelog which lists what titles that Valve is currently developing–and both Left 4 Dead 3 and Source 2 were featured on the list.

The leaked internal changelog that displays both L4D3 and Source 2, all but confirming that Valve is working on both projects.

L4D3 Snippet

This snippet shows that Left 4 Dead 3 is likely powered by Source 2, and that it’s one of Valve’s current projects.

This is great news for gamers who are looking forward to a third chapter in the widely acclaimed Left 4 Dead franchise, as well as the mentioning of Valve’s new Source 2 game engine which will power it. Gabe Newell has confirmed last year that Valve is currently building a new engine, and now we have concrete evidence of Source 2–even if it’s just a small leak.

Additionally Newell was quoted saying that Valve is “probably waiting for a game to roll out with it” in regards to officially revealing Source 2, and in light of this apparent leaked info, we may see the company shed some light on the engine or even a full-fledged Left4Dead 3 reveal.

It’s been speculated that Valve’s Source 2 engine will power its lineup of next-gen console titles, and while this has yet to be confirmed, gamers are further speculating to the possibility of L4D3 being an Xbox One exclusive.

Furthermore the changelog doesn’t mention anything about Half-Life 3 (sorry die-hard Freeman followers), however the gaming world is still clamoring for any sort of teases or news regarding a new Half-Life game.

It will be interesting to see how (and if) Valve responds to the leaked info, and the newfound leak will no-doubt spread speculation on Source 2 (and consequently Half-Life 3) like wildfire across the net. We’ll just have to wait and see what Valve has to say, and hopefully Gabe will have a few surprises in store for us.
