Remember the snazzy-looking Newman N3 phone that was furiously making the rumor rounds mere weeks ago? Apparently, that’s not the only Newman gadget incoming, with a K2 in the pipeline as well.
The K2 will likely follow in the footsteps of the K1 and K1A Panda, although it’s unclear why Newman is in such a hurry to refresh this line. After all, the K1A Panda only saw daylight a few days ago. Could it be that the N3 was canceled? Or maybe these K2 photos are phony.
Nah, I’m not buying any of that. Which is why I’m done questioning Newman’s marketing strategy and I just want to focus on this rumored K2.
It would be a terrible shame if I didn’t, because the thing is a beauty. It’s large, fairly elegant and slim (I think) and chances are it’ll pack a decent amount of heat under the hood. Not great, but decent, courtesy of a 1.5 GHz quad-core Mediatek 6589T chip.
The pièce de résistance however is likely to be the 5.5-inch display, which will boast a 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution (aka Full HD). That may sound run of the mill for $700 high-enders, but I’m willing to bet Newman will not ask more than 350 bucks for the N3. They could even go as low as $300, in which case the Full HD 5.5-inch panel would really be something.
Beware, those numbers are just guesstimates based on N1 and N2 price points, so don’t come knocking on my door with torches and pitchforks if I don’t get the final pricing right.
The only other detail “known” about the upcoming 5.5-incher is the sporting of a 13 MP rear-facing camera, but stay tuned as there are likely more goodies where all that intel came from. Android 4.2, 1 GB of RAM, larger than 2,500 mAh battery? One can only hope at this point.
