Next Generation Computing Experience Forum 2011

Greg Poole is the Director for AMD’s WW Field Applications Engineering organisation and spoke about the AMD’s history of the AMD Opteron processor from a single core all the way to today with 16 cores.

Dennis Ang from Hewlett Packards Scalable Computing division spoke about the challenges of High Performance Computer (HPC). He outlined the various areas in which HP has assisted companies. One might believe that HPC’s market is a very narrow vertical but contrary to that it is a market space that spans many industries.

It might come as a suprise to some to know just how involved HP is in HPC. HP has been the #1 in HPC for 7 Years and something you think companies would neglect is how efficient (green) your HPC system is. HP has one of the greenest HPC systems – Tokyo Tech’s Subame 2.0.
