Nintendo has announced the release date for the latest Pokémon games, including two DS titles and one downloadable 3DS game.

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 will join a host of other Nintendo colour variations of the classic monster-catching series on 7 October, playable on both the DS and the 3DS in 2D mode.

Collectors will want a 3DS, however, as there are rare Pokémon to catch in the downloadable Pokémon Dream Radar title, which lets players use their 3DS camera, motion control and augmented-reality technology for a more interactive experience. Creatures caught can then be transferred into the other two games.

The sequels to the Black and White versions will see the return of Cheren and Bianca to the region of Unova two years after the events of the original games, with new areas to discover, including Virbank City, where players can visit the Pokéstar Studios to make their own Pokémon-starring movies.

Some of the Pokémon up for grabs include Eevee, Riolu, Tyranitar, Arcanine, and Mareep. Those who get Dream Radar will also be able to catch the new Therian Formes of Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus.

Gamers looking to learn more about the various Pokémon will also be able to buy the Pokédex 3D Pro from the Nintendo eShop, expanding upon the original Pokédex 3D with details about all known Pokémon to date.
