Nintendo announces the end of Wii channels and services

Bad news for Wii users, as Nintendo decided to shut down various channels and services. The countdown begins on the 28th of June.

Among the discontinued services will be: Nintendo Channel, Forecast Channel (although it is one of the most popular and regularly updated channels), Everybody Votes Channel and Mii Contest Channel. Also, note that you will not be able to exchange messages through the Wii Message Board any more.

According to the company’s announcement: “We at Nintendo sincerely thank you for your continued patronage of our company's products. We apologise to those of you currently using these services, and ask for your understanding. The above services will no longer be available even if they are started up from the Wii Menu.”

However, the Wii Shop Channel will keep working just fine.
