Introduction

Nokia first launch its first megapixel camera phone, the 7610
over at CeBIT in March this year and after several months of waiting, it is
finally here in Singapore market. The Nokia 7610 can be viewed as the successor
to the current 7600 model and their shapes are share some similarities like
rounded edges except that the 7610 is more elongated and looks more like a
mobile phone. The 7610 will first be available in two colours, ruby and
onyx-coloured covers and of course other coloured covers will be available as
well. The 7610 comes bundled with a 64MB reduced-size MultiMediaCard on top of
the internal 8MB but certainly you can choose to use higher capacity RSMMC of
128MB, 256MB or higher to store more applications. The sleek looking 7610 offers
65K color screen for viewing still images and video capturing by the one
megapixel camera. It will also include a wide array of applications and features
such as Lifeblog, Kodak pictures, Multimedia Messaging, email, RealOne mobile
player with MP3/AAC music playback, True Tone and 48-polyphonic ringing tone
support, HTML Internet browser, USB, Bluetooth connectivity and support for Java
technology. With strong demand for camera phones of decent quality, this product
is expected to fly off the shelves. In this review, we will concentrate on the
megapixel camera, the features and functions, the design of the phone and other
interesting features.

The Nokia 7610, comes in a well designed box, with the standard
handphone accessories package. The only thing that is different in the
accessories package as compared to the older Nokia phone models is the reduced
sized MMC (RS-MMC) and the MMC Holder. Nokia 7610 comes pretty much in an empty
shell. Most of the softwares are not preloaded and have to be installed onto the
phone via the CD-ROM included in the package. Most probably to save the precious
8MB of internal memory in the phone, which incidentally, is only around 4MB
after deducting the space taken by the internal programs.
