There’s a lot of different ways to get people to buy your smartphones, one way that not a lot can argue is actually giving customers money for their old phones so they can get your new ones.

A smartphone trade-up program isn’t something new. HTC did it as well to sell some HTC One devices when that launched. Nokia is now giving the strategy a go and offering up to $300 for your old smartphone to put toward a new Lumia device. I’d love to explain to you how it works but the website does a perfectly capable job of it, check it out:

Obviously the newer your phone the more you’ll get.  If you have an iPhone 4S you want to get rid of for instance you’ll likely get at least 2/3rds of the max.  Same with a recent device from HTC or Samsung.  Of course, this all depends on the condition of the device you’re selling to them as well.  It’s not an easy solution but it does help if you need some extra money and selling your phone privately just isn’t your thing.
