It is April 12th at last, and Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 470 and GTX 480 cards are finally starting to appear all over e-tail. Unfortunately, “Out of Stock” and “Notify Me” are the most common messages when shipping for GTX 400 products. Still, the listings are encouraging and hopefully we will see cards on sale in the next few days.

The other big concern is the pricing. While a few e-tailers are sticking to the SRP; on average, both the GTX 470 and the GTX 480 seem to have inflated prices listed around the web.

It is April 12th at last, and Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 470 and GTX 480 cards
are finally starting to appear all over e-tail. Unfortunately, “Out of
Stock” and “Notify Me” are the most common messages when shipping for
GTX 400 products. Still, the listings are encouraging and hopefully we
will see cards on sale in the next few days.

The other big concern is the pricing. While a few e-tailers are sticking
to the SRP; on average, both the GTX 470 and the GTX 480 seem to have
inflated prices listed around the web.

The average price for the GTX 480 is about $550 with only a few e-tailers pricing at $499. The GTX 470 does much better though, as several e-tailers are selling the cards in the $350 and $375 range. The average price seems to be about $370, but you can get cards for the $349 SRP.

The best deal at the moment seems to be at Provantage, with the GTX 480 selling for $485. Revealingly, this particular product is marked as a “Special Order”, which is allocated for products with limited availability. Such “Special Orders” take 3-4 weeks to be shipped.

In short, the message is clear – there seems very little signs of widespread availability for the Nvidia Geforce GTX 400 series any time soon.

It must be noted that it is only the early hours of April 12th in US, and availability was scheduled for “the week of April 12th”, so there’s still a chance that there will be decent availability by the end of this week, but we are sure most of us will not hold our breaths.
