Following yesterday's (or day before, depending on where you live) leak of the GTX 480's PCB pictures, Computerbase.de have got their hands on both the GTX 470 and the GTX 480. At first glace, the GTX 470 appears to be noticeably shorter than the GTX 480. Also, the GTX 470 sports 2 x 6-pin PCI-e power, whereas the GTX 480 is equipped with 6-pin + 8-pin power connectors. The 470 (pictured above) is rumoured to have a TDP of 220W, in which case a 2 x 6-pin configuration, officially rated at 225W will be cutting it fine, and may limit overclocking. However, it is worth noting that these are not the final boards, and changes such as cooler, clock speeds and power configuration are possible for the final retail products.

The 470 has a considerably less bulky cooler, with no massive heatpipes sticking out. It also has less memory (1280MB) on a thinner memory interface (320 bit). Surprisingly, the GDDR5 speed is being widely rumoured to be as low as 800 MHz, while the Radeon HD 5870 runs at 50% higher speed. The core clock is reported to be 625 MHz, and the shaders at 1250 MHz. The 470 features 448 CUDA Cores (or shaders), a full 64 less than the GTX 480.

Performance wise, the GTX 470 is expected to end up splitting the HD 5850 and the HD 5870. This would indicate a price range of $350 to be competitive, and that doesn't take into account ATI's own price reduction buffer. Will Nvidia sell a GF100 based GPU (given the size, history, and rumoured yield rates) for $350?
