At long last, Nvidia's elusive Geforce GTX 480 has been caught in the bare - by Tweakers.net at Cebit 2010, despite stringent security measures by Nvidia. However, the particular card photographed happens to be the A2 revision - whereas the final shipping stepping is expected to be A3.



In addition, the cooler is expected to be different on the final retail version as well. The cooler pictured appears to be a hefty four-heatpipe cooler.

No major surprises are revealed by the PCB picture. There appears to be 1536MB of memory, which is right in line with the 384-bit memory bus. The GF100 GPU itself appears to be massive - well in excess of 500mm².

Interestingly, Tweakers.net claims a worldwide quantity of only 5,000 units at initial run. We will see if this turns out to be true, but rumours of very limited availability is reflected around the web, though few are as extreme as only 5,000 units worldwide. Naturally, with such a limited quantity, Nvidia will have to prioritize AIB partners. Certain smaller partners may only end up with a couple of hundred GTX 480s - barely enough to supply the media - if indeed these rumours are true.
