NVIDIA lists GeForce GTX 580

Reported by on Friday, October 22 2010 1:45 am

NVIDIA had accidentally listed its upcoming counter-to-AMD-Cayman GeForce GTX 580 under its 3D Vision Requirements. While the webmasters were quick to fix the error, several users around the web reported the listing. Geeks3D managed to take a screenshot of the same, which lists the GTX 580 right above the GTX 480.

Whether an accident or not, the timing of the leak is just about perfect, hours before AMD's big Radeon HD 6800 release. The last time Nvidia "accidentally" listed a product, the GeForce GT 420, it was officially released a month later. The GTX 580 is expected to release in November/December 2010, though reports suggest this being a paper-launch and actual availability following in Jan/Feb 2011. It is also expected to be a minor refresh - "GF100 done right" - with performance improvements of about 20%. The GTX 580 is targeted at AMD's Radeon HD 6950/6970.
