9600GT Green 1 Nvidia To Roll Out Cheaper & Greener 9600 GT Cards

We first told you about the GeForce 9600 GT Green Edition card a while back and now we have some sneak peek on the card itself. What differs from the current GeForce 9600 GT cards is the PCB itself. We can expect this card to be priced cheaper (less than US$90 perhaps) than the current 9600GT cards due to some savings on the PCB department. As such, this move by Nvidia will put a squeeze on ATI Radeon HD 4670 card which is currently priced at around US$80.

Nvidia has a new P562 6-layer board for the G94-350-B1 GPU that is shorter, more power optimized and requires no external power. The core voltage is at 1.0V instead of 1.1V so the core has to be clocked lower at 600MHz instead of 650MHz. The 512MB (16Mx32) GDDR3 memories remain the same at 900MHz frequency.

As such, the card power consumption is lowered from 96W to 59W which is around 40% more power efficient. This card has even lower TDP than its competitor, the Radeon HD 4670.
