The online Apple Store has gone down globally ahead of the expected launch of the Retina iPad mini on November 12.

When it announced the new tablets last month, Apple said that it would launch the Retina iPad mini later in November. The company didn’t provide a concrete release date, and so far it hasn’t confirmed when the Retina display touting tablet is going to be launched. Recent rumors have pegged the release on November 21, while some have even claimed that Apple might push the launch beyond November due to LCD burn-in issues with the display panels that Sharp has manufactured for the tablet.

A few hours back a purported post was spotted on Apple’s internal global service exchange which said that Apple launches the Retina iPad mini on November 12. This is the first time that this date has been rumored, and it just might turn out to be the real deal, seeing as how the online Apple Store has gone down across the globe. It has been down for a couple of hours now, when it finally comes back online we’ll know for sure if today is the day Apple launches the Retina iPad mini. Another possibility is that Apple might be unconducted scheduled maintenance on its online stores.

Even if the Retina iPad mini launches today, it is expected to remain in tight supply throughout the remainder of this year. Analysts expect supplies to pick up in the first quarter of 2014.
