OnLive Announces Cloud-based Video Game Console
Video gaming without the hassle of downloading the content or inserting the game disc? Well, that’s what the OnLive video game console offers. The games are cloud-based, on-demand and the gaming system includes a MicroConsole TV adapter and OnLive Wireless Controller.
OnLive has announced their latest gaming system which does not require download, updates or game discs; the video games are on-demand. Priced at an affordable US$99, and bundled with MicroConsole TV adapter and OnLive wireless controller, the instant-play game system is available for pre-order and will be on sale from 2 December in U.S.
You need a broadband Internet connection and a TV while the set up takes only a couple of minutes. The wireless controller can video record and has multimedia buttons for playback, rewind and fast-forward of the videos. You can connect up to four OnLive wireless controllers simultaneously, along with an optional keyboard and mouse.
At launch, there will be more than 35 games to choose from, including Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition; Just Cause 2; Mafia ll and NBA 2K11. OnLive games can also be played on a PC or Mac, although you need to download a small browser.
Games may be tested for free and then converted to a three-day or five-day rental or Full PlayPass, ranging in price from US$4.99 to US$49.99. Game rentals range in price from US$3.99 to US$8.99. There will also be a monthly subscription plan for users to access the game library. OnLive can be ordered from the OnLive Store.
