Opera 10's Turbo Mode
DailyTech has reported that the Turbo Mode in Opera 10 (released in September) is its most well-liked function, with over 3 million people using it (to view 668 million compressed Web pages) within a month. Turbo Mode compresses the Webpages up to 3 to 4 times using server-side compression and reduces the transfer size by up to 80%. Based on this technology, Opera has claimed to be able to deliver webpages faster on slow connections (e.g. dialup, slower DSL connections), certainly an impressive feat. Those who use metered plans had also used Turbo to help reduce their data transfer, translating into monthly savings. So folks, do give Opera 10 (download it here) a shot and let us know if it the Turbo Mode is for real!
PS: Turbo is located in the lower left-hand corner of Opera 10. Click to turn it on!
