According to fresh rumours, Facebook might be looking at snapping up Norwegian web-browser maker Opera.  There have been plenty of talks about a wide range of things from Facebook, mostly smartphones, but a browser has been mentioned in the past and this could be a fast track way for the company to get one.

According to Pocket-Lint, Facebook is looking at creating a custom browser that would be heavily integrated with Facebook and have support for various plug-ins and other features directly via the browser menus. We're not entirely sure that this concept will take off, especially as this is pretty much what Rockmelt already does.

Opera has always made pretty good browsers with a few quirky features that the competition never implemented, although as of lately the company seems to have gained ground mostly in the mobile and embedded browser space.

It's an interesting rumour, but then there's the question if Opera would be willing to sell to Facebook. However, most companies are willing to sell, for the right price and with Facebooks recent IPO the company should have a fair bit of spare cash to spend on what is a relatively small company.
