Sad to hear Oppo has no plans whatsoever for a 3.7-inch Find 5 Mini? Well, maybe the possibility of a Find 5 Google Edition will make the sorrow go away. Plus, the Find 7 has also been officially confirmed and should be made available by the end of the year.
Even that odd name seems set in stone, following a short discussion between an Oppo representative and the folks over at GSM Arena. Here’s the “relevant” part of the statement in full, so as to make sure we don’t misinterpret anything:
“Oppo is excited to be currently developing the next phone in the Find Series, the Find 7. However, development is still in the early stages and has no finalized design or specifications. There is also no release date at this time and will unfortunately not be available this September.”
There you have it, folks, as clear-cut as these things come. The Find 7 is real, is likely to be called that, but there’s no way to know how it will look yet and a September release is out of the question.
But if the thing is in such “early stages” of development, how can we be so sure it’s even coming in 2013? Elementary, my dears – the Find 5 was unveiled back in December 2012 and, given how quick everyone is to update its flagships, it’s safe to assume Oppo has to do the same to keep up.
As far as that name is concerned, we still think there’s something up with the mysterious leap from 5 to 7. There’s no way the Find 7 will come with a 7-inch screen, so wouldn’t it make sense for a Find 6 (likely a lower-end affair) to see daylight by the fall?
Finally, I don’t buy for a second Oppo has “no finalized specifications”. I’m pretty sure they know what they want to pack their next flagship with, but sadly we’ll have to wait until hearing something official. Or find solace in that rumored list of features, which still looks legit.
