Over 23,000 BitTorrent users may face legal actions from illegal downloads
Yes, you read right. Another lawsuit has been filed against illegal Bit Torrent downloaders, and approximately 23,000 of them in the US. This could well be the biggest downloading case in US to date.
According to online reports, over 23,000 users in the US may face lawsuits for illegal Bit Torrent movie downloads. Apparently, a federal judge has allowed the U.S. Copyright Group, a plaintiffs' organization formed by indy film producers, to force ISPs to unveil the IP addresses of every user who illegally downloaded the film.
To top it all, these file sharers were found to have downloaded the 2010 movie "The Expendables" starring popular action stars like Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundren and Jason Statham. This could be the largest illegal-downloading case in U.S. history. The 23,000 BitTorrent users may have to decide whether to pay the Copyright Group several thousand dollars to settle or face possible damages of up to $150,000 per infringement.
