John Eng, vice president, marketing and alliances for Parallels, said that the company has 75% market share in desktop virtualization – running Windows and Mac operating system side-by-side without the need of rebooting. Eng said that 50% of the customers who go to Nubox, who is also a partner of the company, are new to Mac, and want to get a Mac but still want to run the Windows applications.

"You may ask what kind of applications do people run on the Mac? We did a poll of about half a million of our users and found that there are more than 10,000 discrete (Windows) applications that they use," says the vice president.
