The advancement of mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets and ultramobile PCs, dramatically increased the storage requirements of the users. What happens when the storage of the mobile device, which frequently cannot be upgraded at all, runs out? Patriot is here with an answer in the form of Gauntlet Node, an external HDD enclosure with a built-in battery and Wi-Fi radio.

 

Computer HDDs have advanced so much that storage is not often an issue with desktop computers; however; as far as ultrabook and laptop/tablet hybrids users are concerned, they can face serious storage problems since the small SSDs of such devices rarely can store enough data. Users of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets are at even worse disadvantage, as there are times when a memory card or flash drive is simply not enough and using an external HDD is very rarely an option. When the memory of the mobile device cannot be upgraded any further, users frequently have to rely on internet-based cloud storage services for extra storage when their memory cards cannot suffice, preventing them from accessing their data when offline.

Patriot had thought of an answer to that and presented the Gauntlet Node, an external 2.5" drive enclosure with an integrated battery and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n radio, allowing almost every mobile device to access the files stored inside it wirelessly.
