pegavision Pegatron branches out into non tech related products

It's not unusual that technology companies try their luck in various fields within the technology market and we've seen motherboard makers doing graphics cards, notebooks and just about anything that has to do with computers. However, today we found out by chance that Pegatron has teamed up with a substrate manufacturer called Kinsus to form a company name Pegavision.

At first though the name might have suggested something to do with display products of some kind, but alas, it has nothing to do with technology at al as it happens. Pegavision is a contact lens manufacturer and offers daily disposables, biweekly and monthly soft contact lenses. The company is doing a big push in Taiwan at the moment, but as always with Taiwanese companies, you can also sign up as an ODM customer with them.

Now we were thinking about launching a VR-Zone brand of contact lenses, but considering that we lack the necessary warehousing needed, we decided it wasn't going to be worth the effort. Ok, so that last part was a joke, but Pegavision is for real and the company has already been around for nearly two years, although it only got all of the required certifications last year and only recently went into retail sales in Taiwan. Pegatron is far from the only technology company to branch out into other lines of business, but we found this to be a rather unusual direction to move in.
