Pentax Announced water-proof Optio W80

Pentax Japan has announced their new 12.1-megapixel Optio W80 digital camera designed to be water-proof, dust-proof, cold-proof and shock-proof. (Sounds like the all-weather Olympus mju cameras.) The Optio W80 will be commercially available from mid-July.

Pentax Japan has announced their latest Optio W80 digital camera which is designed to be used in almost any environment including skiing and water sports, fishing and outdoors.

The Optio W80 features water resistance of up to 5 meters, shock proof (up to 1 meter), Cold-proof (-10 degrees Celsius) and Dust-proof. Specifications-wise, the Pentax has a 12.1-megapixel sensor, 5x internal optical zoom with a wide angle 28mm lens, ISO of up to 6400, 2.5-inch LCD screen and a SD/SDHC card slot.

The camera is also capable of shooting videos at 720p resolution, at 30fps, has Face Detection (up to 32 faces), Smile Shutter and Blink detection functionalities.

Comes in Grey, Red, Blue and The Pentax Optio W80 will be available from mid-July and priced at 40,000 yen (approximately US$420).
