In usual fashion Apple has kept its cards close to its chest to prevent leaked information about the third-gen iPad and for the most part that's worked out pretty well for them. However, as we draw closer to its release things are ramping up and there is now an apparent minor leak of specs after photos were shared out from a source of a supposed iPad 3 prototype.

The photos show the iPad running while connected to a development tool called iBoot, allowing us to get an idea of what's lurking inside. The unit looks to be running a CPU using model number "S5L8945X" which when comparing it to model numbers of the single-cored iPad 1's processor (S5L8930X) and dual-cored A5 (S5L8940X), gives inclination that this is a quad-core Apple A6 processor.

iBoot also makes mention of the iPad 3 WiFi and iPad 3 WiFi+GSM/CDMA/LTE in the form of models J1 and J2. You can view more photos over at the source.
