Pioneer to release 6X BDXL capable Blu-ray writer

Pioneer is about to release a new 5.25" Blu-ray writer which is able to write to 100GB BDXL discs at speeds of up to 6X.

Pioneer is about to release a new 5.25" Blu-ray writer which is able to write to 100GB BDXL discs at speeds of up to 6X.

The BDR-S07 can also burn typical BD-R single and dual layer discs at speeds of up to 12X, while single, double and triple-layer BD-RE discs can be written to at 2X. The tray-loading 5.25" drive uses the SATA interface and comes in three variants that differ by their bezels.

There's the BDR-S07-BK using a piano-black bezel, the BDR-S07-KR which is matte-black and the BDR-S07-W with a matt-white bezel.

The drives are set to firstly arrive in Japan sometime next week at 25,000 JPY (around $328 USD).
