Pioneer Unveils First 12x Blu-ray Disc Writer
Pioneer has unveiled the BDR-205 Blu-ray Disc® Computer Writer, the first writer in the industry capable of 12x write speed for single and dual-layer Blu-ray Disc (BD) media. For comparison, Blu-ray burners found in the market can only manage a maximum write speed of 8x, which makes Pioneer’s BDR-205 the current king of performance for Blu-ray writers. The burner will also be able to support reading and writing DVD/CD media at 16x/40x respectively. Boosting Pioneer’s “Low Vibration Mechanism Design”, overall writing accuracy is improved, important for users who often transfer mass amounts of data. The new BDR-205 Blu-ray Disc computer writer will begin shipping in October 2009 for system builders whilst its retail cousin, the BDR-2205, will be available Q1 2010 at a MSRP of USD$249.Read on...
