Designed by Porsche Design, in collaboration with RIM, the P'9981 smartphone from BlackBerry sports a forged stainless steel frame, hand-wrapped leather back cover, sculpted QWERTY keyboard, and crystal clear touchscreen display. Running the latest BlackBerry 7 operating system, the phone comes with exclusive Porsche Design user interface (UI) and a bespoke Wikitude World Browser augmented reality app experience. It also includes premium, exclusive PINs that help easily identify another P’9981 smartphone user.

The P'9981 is powered by 1.2 GHz processor and features high definition video recording, 24-bit high resolution graphics, and advanced sensors for new augmented reality applications. It also comes with 8GB of onboard memory and is expandable to 40GB with a micro SD card.

According to the store manager of Porsche Design Singapore, there were already over 90 preorders for the P'9981 smartphone and counting. However, for such a luxurious, premium phone, it would not be surprising that the company is only bringing in very limited quantity. The local pricing is not available yet, though news reports state that the P'9981 will retail at around US$1,700 (with GST) and will reach Singapore in January 2012.
