We've already seen a leaked picture of Sony's upcoming Alpha models and now a picture that's said to be of a pre-production model of Sony's upcoming NEX-7 has made an appearance. If this turns out to be the real deal, then Sony has changed its strategy quite a lot as this model is addressing a very different crowd than the current NEX models.

For starters it's clear from the picture that the NEX-7 has an electronic viewfinder, something many advanced users saw as a missing feature of the current NEX models. It also has a standard Sony hot-shoe, unlike the special connector found on the current models. On top of that, it's said to have a built-in pop-up flash, yet another missing feature on the current models.

The controls have also changed a bit with a few additional buttons and what appears to be a pair of control dials, although it's not quite clear as to what they do from the picture. The camera is rumoured to have a 24 Megapixel sensor and the EVF is suggested to be the same rumoured 3 million dot EVT used in the new Alpha models. One other thing that makes the NEX-7 different from the current NEX model is its expected price tag of US$1,200 (S$1,460), body only. The NEX-7 is expected to be announced sometime in August.
