QNAP unveils two new models for its Business Series Turbo NAS Line
Storage company QNAP Systems has enhanced its Business Series of Turbo NAS line with two new models for up to 24TB of storage capacity in a single unit. The more powerful TS-EC879U-RP is powered by a quad-core Intel Xeon Processor with 4GB DDR3 ECC RAM and 4x Gigabit LAN ports, while the TS-879U-RP has a dual-core Intel Core i3 processor with 2GB DDR3 RAM and 2x Gigabit LAN ports.
Both models are 2U rackmount units with hot-swappable slots for eight disk drives, which can be 6Gbps 3.5-inch SATA hard disk drives or 2.5-inch solid-state drives. With an eye towards enterprise-grade reliability, both the TS-EC879U-RP and TS-879U-RP NAS come with redundant power supply and two expansion slots for storage and network expansion. Both models are backed with a 3 year warranty and optional 10GbE networking for up to 1,000MB/sec and 100,000 IOPS of data throughput.
A large number RAID configurations are supported under the hood, such as RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 6, 5+ hot spare, 6+ hot spare, 10+ hot spare, single disk and JBOD. With Global Hot Spare, a spare drive can be assigned to automatically replace a failed drive on any RAID volume for data rebuilding. Supported environments include file sharing in mixed Windows, Mac, Linux and UNIX, as well as private cloud storage and for high-performance computing applications.
In addition, QNAP says the two NAS models are ideal for virtual server environments using iSCSI, and has been certified to be VMware Ready, Citrix XenServer Ready and Windows Hyper-V compliant.
