Gamers from around the world arrived via car, train and airplane to partake in the festivities. Since Quakecon’s BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) seating is first come, first serve; attendees formed lines waiting long hours to score first dibs on seating.

The gamers spent their time in line chatting, playing cards, some even set up their computers to play with each other on small LANs.

The side of the event many people don’t get to see is what goes on behind the scenes of Quakecon. Quakecon is a volunteer driven event, and before the BYOC doors opened, volunteers were busy running Cat 5 cable to every spot in the BYOC and helping some vendors prepare for the event.

Here we see Nvidia putting some finishing touches on its tech display.
