Razer Blade refresh brings Quad-HD+ screen, GTX 870M GPU

With a screen resolution of 3000 x 1800, a Core i7 CPU and a GPU with 3 GB of GDDR5 memory, the Razer Blade is a strong contender for the best gaming notebook.


The Razer Blade just got a major refresh with the inclusion of Nvidia’s new GeForce GTX 870M video card. The 14-inch notebook also features a new IGZO/IPS display with a Quad-HD+ resolution of 3200 x 1800. There is no other 14-inch notebook available today that offers such a high resolution screen. The screen is also touch sensitive and allows for 10-point multitouch.


With dimensions of 345x235x17.9 mm, the Razer Blade is one of the thinnest gaming notebooks. And weighing in at 4.47 lbs, it is also one of the lightest. The notebook features an all-aluminium chassis and a backlit anti-ghosting keyboard that features programmable keys.


Under the hood, the Razer Blade refresh has a Intel 4th-gen Core i7 4702HQ quad-core processor that is clocked at 2.2 GHz. The Blade comes with 8 GB of DDR3L RAM at 1600 MHz and a 128 GB SSD. Users also have the ability of choosing higher storage variations of 256/512 GB. The GTX 870M in the notebook comes with 3 GB of GDDR5 memory in addition to Nvidia exclusive features like ShadowPlay, GameStream and Battery Boost. The Blade has an Intel 7260HMW 2×2 modem that delivers Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

The notebook comes loaded with a 64-bit Windows 8.1 and delivers over six hours of battery life. The Razer Blade is now available for $2,199.
