Call of Duty: Ghosts official box art is upon us–doesn't that mask look familiar?

Box art and a supposed release date have been leaked for Call of Duty: Ghosts, the next upcoming chapter in Infinity Ward's definitive military shooter franchise.

The leak took place when online retailers Tesco Direct and Target made their respective blunders via their official websites, with the former (Tesco) revealing CoD: Ghosts' box art and the latter (Target) inadvertently revealing the game's expected release date: Nov. 5, 2013.

It should come to no surprise to any Call of Duty fan as most of the games in the series have seen releases in November, and Activision looks as if it will continue this trend with Ghosts.

A November release window has also been discussed during an Activision shareholder meeting that was held back in February. While Activision has yet to confirm the Nov. 5 launch date, the advertisement all but locks it into place, and the company may very well shed the limelight on Ghosts sooner than they had hoped in lieu of these recent leaks.

The date shown in Target's advertisement does clash with the leaked promotional poster that hit the web last month via Instagram which proclaimed a Nov. 12 launch date, yet it's unclear which of the two dates are accurate at this point. What we do know is that the game is almost certainly coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 in November.

Tesco's leak–which sports the box art seen at the top of the page–came in the way of an official product page on their website, which has been since been taken down.

Additional leaked footage from a YouTube user known as Drift0r has unveiled some of the gameplay mechanics for the new Cal of Duty game, which was then believed to be "Modern Warfare 4". Below you can find the video and see the game in action.

It will certainly be interesting to see how (and if) Activision responds to the leaked imagery and release date–maybe they'll follow in Rockstar's shoes when GTA's release date had been leaked–and if the online retailers are affected by their mishap.

Leaks are quite prevalent in the gaming industry, especially with highly anticipated AAA titles of this nature.

In any case, we'll most likely hear more about Call of Duty: Ghosts in the next coming months and most likely during E3 in June. We'll keep you updated when more information and coverage is available.

Based on the leaked info, Call of Duty: Ghosts is currently slated for a release date of Nov. 5, 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Be advised that this information may change without warning, but the game will most likely follow suit with a release sometime in November.
