Report: AMD to release triple-core A6 APU for Desktops

Reported by on Thursday, July 7 2011 7:57 pm

Two Llano APUs for Desktops are shipping now - A8-3850 and A6-3650, with 65W A8-3800 and A6-3600 releasing shortly. While there have been rumours of a triple-core part, Fudzilla confirms that AMD is set to release A6-3500 in Q3, which will be identical to the A6-3600 but features one core less, making it the only triple core APU on the market.

The A6-3500 will have three cores enabled, with 3MB L2 cache, clocked at a base clock of 2.1 GHz, rising to 2.4 GHz with Turbo. It will feature the same HD 6530D part as the A6-3600 with 320 SP clocked at 433 MHz, and will retain the same 65W TDP. Given the pricing trends for the A-Series, A6-3500 could very well be the best performing APU under $100.

Also expected in Q3 2011 are the A4 dual-core APUs A4-3300 and A4-3400. The final Llano APU in this round will be the budget E2-3200, releasing after the A4-series sometime in Q4 2011.
