The Galaxy Note III is once again in the news, and the Korean media is now claiming that September 4 is the confirmed date for the phablet’s unveiling, and also for Samsung’s first smartwatch.
We’ve heard rumors of a September 4th unveiling of the Galaxy Note III before, and a new report out of the Korean media claims that four days into September is indeed when Samsung will announce their “next big thing” (literally big, in this case), along with the company’s first smartwatch.
This isn’t exactly something to be surprised about, as the IFA is where the device’s predecessors were also announced. The unveiling will be done at a special media event, two days before IFA officially kicks off. Asiae.co.kr also confirms previously rumored specs, like a 5.7-inch AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM, and the new Exynos 5 Octa processor (some variants will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chip).
As for the smartwatch, not much is known except that it might be called Samsung Gear, run on Android, act as a companion accessory for the company’s Galaxy devices and, well, be wearable on your wrist. A September unveiling would give Samsung an upper hand on Apple’s rumored iWatch, though if history is any guide, the latter is probably the product that will make smartwatches a cool thing to have.
The Galaxy Note III is something a lot of folks are going to be waiting anxiously for, but are you guys looking forward to that smartwatch?
