Despite their chaste simplicity, Rosewill’s RK-9000 series certainly offers more than what meets the eye. While we suspect that many users will still enjoy the classic look of the RK-9000, their generic appearance could dishearten some enthusiasts. On other hand however, you will never want to go back to a classic rubber dome keyboard after using a RK-9000 for a short while. You also should not let the plain appearance of the RK-9000 fool you; the sturdiness and quality of the keyboard is well above enthusiast standards.

Even though the switches are somewhat noisy the RK-9000 and its Cherry MX Blue switches offer the by far best user experience to typists, while the light linear switches of the RK-9000RE offered us a vastly superior gaming experience than any of the medium range gaming keyboards we have tested to this date. Especially after taking into consideration that Cherry MX Blue switches are relatively rare and the fact that professionals rarely ever require multimedia keys, the RK-9000 is a must have for the professional writer/typist.

It is true that many casual PC users will laugh off the prospect of buying a keyboard which looks like it came out of the 80’s for 99 USD; hardcore enthusiasts however rarely settle for anything but the best, whether it is meant for everyday work or just for fun. The lack of any multimedia and/or extra functions does not help win the crowds; however, we know that old school typists will love the Cherry MX Blue switches of the RK-9000 and hardcore gamers will enjoy the quick and light Cherry MX Red switches of the RK-9000RE. Such products are clearly not aiming towards the wider audience but at experts and seasoned enthusiasts who know exactly what kind of user experience they want.
