We just learned that RIM is planning to bring its famous BlackBerry Messenger app to Android and iOS devices.

It is still unclear what RIM’s strategy is, but it looks like they will offer a light version of BlackBerry Messenger to other platforms. Meaning, additional features like photo and file sharing only available to BlackBerry users.

So far no details on timing yet, but Android and iOS users can look forward to some time this year.
