Quick, what’s the freshest, coolest, baddest Android gadget around? The second-gen Google Nexus 7 (aka Nexus 7 2013), you say? You’re probably right.

Nexus 7 2013 Rumor: Google considering Lenovo and Samsung for 2014 Nexus 7 partnership

But while that thing has become official less than seven days ago and is thus hotter than the royal baby (well, in some circles, at least), it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that Google is already looking ahead. To the next N7, likely to come out one full year from now.

True, actual development for the third-gen 7-inch Nexus tablet is unlikely to be kicked into gear anytime soon, but before anything the search giant has to pick a partner. Considering the first slate’s success and how awesome the second looks on paper, one could assume Asus is in a very solid position for being chosen.

Then again, a wild rumor about LG being asked to co-manufacture the N7-3 emerged less than 48 hours ago and now there’s a new report mentioning two other names. There’s Samsung, a prime suspect for every Nexus project this century, plus… Lenovo.

Lenovo Tablet Rumor: Google considering Lenovo and Samsung for 2014 Nexus 7 partnership

Lenovo?!? That seems a bit random. I mean, the Chinese have been doing an awesome job in handling the recent decline of the PC market and they’re one of the few players still making money in that business, but in the Android décor, they’re… discreet.

As a matter of fact, I dare you to name two Android-powered Lenovo products you’ve noticed in an electronics store over the past few months. You can’t do it, can you? Unless you’re living in China, of course.

On the other hand, someone like Lenovo could definitely be of more use than someone like Samsung if Google wants to keep the Nexus 7’s price bar low and list of features rich. How about it, folks, what logo would you like to see on the 2014 N7? Asus, LG, Lenovo or Samsung’s? Or maybe you have a different OEM altogether in mind? Let us know down below.
