The Droid RAZR HD may be Motorola’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy SIII, and the leaked images look awesome, but are the rumored specs as impressive as the SIII?

Appearance wise, the Droid RAZR HD looks like a piece of space age technology from Star Trek.  The leaked images reveal that the back plating of the phone is made of carbon fiber like its cousins—the RAZR and RAZR MAXX, the dimension and weight are currently unknown, but rumor has it that it will come with a 3000 mAh battery, which is likely to add a hefty number to the overall weight of the phone.

If the Droid RAZR HD intends to compete with the SIII, its dimension must support a screen that is as big as or bigger than the SIII.  The screen resolution is reported to be 1196 x 720, which is the exact same resolution as the SIII.

Next, and probably the most crucial component, is the CPU which is rumored to be a Snapdragon S4 dual-core.  The European version of the SIII boasts a quad-core, so there’s not much competition there.  However, for the North American market, the RAZR HD and SIII will both have a dual core so the playing field seems to be leveled.

One crucial part of the rumored RAZR HD that may make it lose out to the SIII is that it may come with 1 GB RAM, that’s 1 GB less than the SIII.  Even if it can’t compete with the SIII in specs, it sure as heck looks cool enough for me to utter “Beam me up captain” into it.
