Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology in South Korea have designed and built a prototype of a seamless foldable display that folds in half without a visible crease in the middle. Read on.

This foldable prototype display allow users to maximise the screen size while minimising the device size. It did not show a crease even after performing 100,000 folding and unfolding cycles although the brightness at the junction does shows a 6% decrease in brightness. Commercialisation of this device will take about one to two years and we can expect mobile devices and even photoframes with curved form factors incorporating this new display.
