Samsung Asia launches new Series 9 and Series 5 500p notebooks
This morning, Samsung Asia announced their second generation Series 9 laptops which boast to incorporate the world's thinnest and most compact chassis. The Korean company also unveiled their Series 5 500p multimedia notebook for consumers who want power features and high quality multimedia experience.
The new Samsung Series 9 claim to have gone through 9,000 hours of design sketches and mockups and 24,000 hours of research and development, to achieve premium design, superior performance and features for users. The Series 9 features 15-inch display fitted into a stylish 14-inch chassis, weighs 1.59kg and measures 14.9mm thin; the 13-inch Series 9 measures 12.9mm and weighs 1.16kg. The Samsung laptops are powered by third generation Intel Core processor, 4GB/8GB memory and 128GB/256GB SSD configurations. Due to its slim form factor, the Series 9 features VGA output (via dongle) and micro HDMI output; the 15-inch features two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 while the 13.3-inch has one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0.
According to the manufacturer, the Series 9 boots in 9.8 seconds with Samsung Fast Solutions, while Fast Start offers a 1.4-second wake-up, and Fast Browsing provides two-times faster web browsing. Scheduled to launch on 3 June, the 15-inch Series 9 will be available in Magnesium (from S$1,788) and Aluminium chassis (S$2,488) while the 13.3-inch Series 9 will be available only in Aluminium Chasis (from S$2,188). Optional accessories include an external optical drive with stylish finish and would be available soon.
The Samsung Series 5 500p is equipped with third generation Intel Core i7 Quad-core processor, Nvidia GeForce GT630M graphics with 2GB VRAM, and up to 1TB storage. It sports a high-resolution anti-reflective display with 300 nit brightness and features integrated JBL speakers. The 14-inch model weighs 2.27kg and will be available in Titan Silver and Pink flavours. The Samsung Series 5 500p will be retailing in Singapore from 3 June from S$1,288.
