Samsung is to make a major announcement next week, widely expected to be the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini.

The Korean electronics giant issued invitations to an event at its Frankfurt, Germany store, adding a number of clues in the notice that hint at what will be unveiled.

Firstly, the classic “Galaxy S” symbol can be found faded in the background, which suggests it will be related to the company's popular mobile range.

Secondly, the wording frequently mentions size. For example, the main title translates roughly to: “So big can be small, and small can be big.” Further on it says: “On 11.10.2012 comes a small sensation out of [something] really big.”

Clearly size is pivotal to this new product, and with those two clues linked together we have the recently rumoured Galaxy S III Mini, which is expected to have a 4-inch 480×800 touchscreen display, dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera, and Android 4.1.

The screen size would put the Mini in direct competition with the iPhone 5, which also touts a 4-inch screen, Apple's first change in display size from the traditional iPhone 3.5-inch display. This will undoubtedly add fuel to the fire of the companies' already bitter relations.
