Rumors out of Korea are that Samsung will release a successor to the popular Galaxy Note—smartphone-tablet hybrid Android device.  It is very likely that Samsung will dub their Galaxy Note  successor as the Galaxy Note II.  What is even more intriguing is that the Galaxy Note II may be a derivative of the Galaxy SIII—with the Note II retaining most of the S III’s specs except the screen size.

The current Galaxy Note has a 5.3’’ screen, but according to sources familiar with the matter the Note II’s screen will be bigger.  Adding to that, the Note II will utilize an unbreakable plane (UBP) display, which is a precursor to the flexible display.

The Galaxy Note II will run Android Jelly Bean out of the box, and the launch date is rumored to be around October.  Anyone that’s hot on the tail of anything iPhone will notice that the Note II’s launch date may overlap the iPhone 5’s launch date.

Of course this means that Samsung intends to compete with Apple’s iPhone 5 with their Note II.  The iPhone 5 will boast a Retina display and iOS 6, and the Note II will have a tablet-esque screen size and Jelly Bean.  Regardless of the competitive intents of the two tech companies, hopefully both will deliver outstanding products that won’t disappoint consumers.
