1 million copies of Jay-Z’s new album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ will be distributed to Samsung Galaxy phone and tablet owners for free.
Samsung has bagged a deal with rap superstar Jay-Z to release 1 million copies of his newest album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ to owners of Galaxy branded Smartphones and tablets. According to WSJ, Samsung reportedly paid $5 million to secure the deal, although other media sources value the deal at $20 million.
Not only will a million copies be made available for free, but they will also be released 72 hours ahead of the album’s scheduled July 4 worldwide release. All copies of the album will be distributed via a free app on Play Store (to go live on June 24th). People lucky enough to get the album for free however will be barred from sharing any of the tracks with friends until the album goes live all over the world. Sounds fair enough!
We can’t help but wonder as to how the 1 million lucky winners of the album will be selected, after all Samsung has sold tens of millions of Galaxy devices, including the flagship, top-of-the-range products.
