Samsung Galaxy S4 arrives on T-Mobile around May 1
T-Mobile drops a bombshell at its latest press conference. The Company announces it will release the Samsung Galaxy S4 on May 1.
T-Mobile announced that it will be selling the Samsung Galaxy S4 “around” May 1st. The announcement came at the end of a press event where the carrier said they were getting the iPhone 5 in a couple of weeks. The move was seen as stealing Apple’s thunder by some but Android fans were happy.
(Who's next in line to give T-Mobile an attractive buyout offer?)
Both phones will feature the newly announced 4G LTE network. It’s been a big day for T-Mobile.
Samsung Chief Marketing Officer, Michael Seiver, confirmed the Galaxy S4 somewhat vague launch date but gave no specifics on price.
They did announce that the iPhone 5 will be available for purchase with a $99 “down payment” and then a $20 monthly charge after that to pay off the phone. This has led many to speculate that the same payment plan will be available for the Galaxy S4. So far, T-Mobile has not stated that this will be the case.
T-Mobile also unveiled its “Simple Choice” rate plans at the event. It is a three-tiered plan of unlimited talk, text and web for $50, $60 and $70 per month. The first two throttle data speeds after 500MB and 2.5GB, respectively. The $70 plan has no throttle.
T-Mobile is the first U.S. carrier to give a date for the Galaxy S4 and this may spur other carriers to announce a date.
