Samsung launches Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear in India
Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch in the country at a event today. Both devices will be available in stores on September 25.
The Indian version of the Galaxy Note 3 comes with the Exynos Octa SoC, which features a quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A15 and a quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7. The device comes with a 5.7-inch full-HD screen with a pixel density of 386 ppi. The Note 3 features 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal memory, 13 megapixel camera and a 3,200 mAh battery. The device also features a newer iteration of the S-Pen, and comes with a set of new software features that make use of this stylus. The device comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean along with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
Samsung also launched the Galaxy Gear in the country. The smartwatch comes with a 1.63-inch screen and is powered by an 800 MHz processor. Currently, it can only sync with the Galaxy Note 3, but Samsung mentions that more devices will be added in the future. The smartwatch can also be used to make calls and view messages, and uses the cellular network of the device it is connected to. The smartwatch also comes with a 1.9MP camera with a BSI sensor.
The Galaxy Note 3 is priced at $792 (₹49,900) in India, making it the costliest mobile in the country. The Galaxy Gear is available for $363 (₹22,900), which is more than what bestselling budget devices like the Micromax Canvas 4 cost in the country. Samsung has mentioned that the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition tablet will also be making its way to India in October. The Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear will be available on store shelves from September 25th.
